HOW TO ENSURE YOUR PROCESSES SUPPORT EFFICIENCY AND GROWTH FOR YOUR BUSINESS

As we approach the end of 2021, it is clear that the business environment has changed.  Is there even a typical business environment any more?  What we do know is that now, more than ever, managers and leaders need to be clear about the processes that feed into productivity on a daily basis.

In older or less efficiently run businesses, finding out exactly what processes exist can take time and effort, but the rewards include unblocking of communication channels, identifying tasks that are ripe for automation, pinpointing areas of risk, and roadmapping suitable remedial actions – all necessary steps if you want to run your business in an efficient, stable, growth-based manner.

    Processes and Why They Matter?

According to the Techopedia definition, “A business process refers to a wide range of structured, often chained, activities or tasks conducted by people or equipment to produce a specific service or product.”  Processes take place in every department of every business.  Their cumulative effect is to assist in the accomplishment of the goals of the business, with everyone working towards the same goal.

However, many businesses struggle with inefficiency and poor communication; usually the root cause of this is that knowledge of daily processes is undocumented … and a visitor could be told ‘Joe’ is the only person who knows how things are really done in that area.

So when the business starts to grow, a lack of clear processes at one end of the productivity chain makes it hard for management and leadership to decide what needs to be changed in order to drive growth at the other end.

    Processes Influence Staff Morale

One of the less obvious effects of undocumented processes is reduced job satisfaction for employees.  At a time when there is an increased onus on business owners to keep staff feeling valued and motivated, having clear processes that facilitate good communication flow is a valuable aid in accomplishing this.

If you feel that outdated processes are causing your business to stagnate, read one of our case studies here to get a better picture of what MCS can do to help.

Optimise Processes and Supporting Technology Will Follow

A Business Process Review reveals which steps are outdated and inefficient in regard to current business goals. Once business processes are optimised to suit the goals for growth, the next step is to identify what functionality is important and which processes need to be automated and integrated.

It is difficult for management and leadership to visualise scenarios and make snap decisions if the key information is not available until the end of the month or even the year.

Finally, when scaled and customised to your needs, the right technology solution allows you to operate with ease and confidence.

With optimised business processes, you can set realistic targets for business growth and be sure your business is built on a stable foundation.

A deep understanding of business process optimisation combined with expertise in modern technology selection has allowed MCS to play a pivotal role in the success of a diverse range of Irish businesses.
